Lionel Bascur is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a master’s degree in intellectual property law from the University of Edinburgh (approved “with merits”). Prior to this, Lionel completed a diploma in Intellectual Property at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and participated in the Intellectual pProperty summer school organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Convinced of the importance of the intangible component for the development of the private and public sectors, during the last eight years, Lionel has provided legal advice regarding intangible assets to multiple national Startups. Additionally, he has advised indigenous communities, helping to define the way in which their rights converge with the current intellectual property regimes.
Between 2018 and 2020, Lionel was part of the legal department at BCI bank, where he carried out matters related to corporate law and participated in the implementation of technological solutions that optimize the legal department´s operation. In 2017, Lionel joined the team of “ Apparcel , Uriarte & Vassallo ” lawyers, being in charge of tasks related to intellectual property law and corporate law. In 2011, Lionel worked as a paralegal at “ Porzio , Rios & Garcia ” lawyers.
In addition to addressing matters concerning the constitution of intellectual property rights, Lionel is particularly interested in accompanying people during the exploitation of these assets. An acute understanding of this regimes foundations, the dynamics to which they are subjected in their exploitation, and understanding the specific environment in which the company operates, Lionel proposes and implements a legal strategy for these assets in line with the business strategy of their owners.
