Biography

Gonzalo Sánchez Serrano is a lawyer from the University of Chile, with a postgraduate degree in strategic communication from the Catholic University of Chile (PUC). In addition, he participated in the Business Administration Program at UC Berkeley.

He is a pioneer and promotes in the relevance of intellectual property in the new digital and globalized scenario for Chile. He is co-editor of the first regulation of NIC CHILE (the domain administration system), for the resolution of controversies. He is also a member of the first panel of Referees of NIC Chile.

Likewise, he was the first lawyer to propose the protection of web pages in the Department of Intellectual Rights, proposing the practical implementation of the deposit of websites.

He was President of the Chilean chapter of LES Licensing Executive Society, aimed at promoting the economic importance of licensing and management, among others, editing a manual in line with the guidelines of LES INTERNATIONAL.

Under the auspices of the then director of INAPI, Maximiliano Santa Cruz, and at the initiative of Jeannette Von Wolfersdorff, he is the promoter in Chile of the registration of denominations of origin and geographical indications of the most emblematic products of Chile. This registration was carried out as part of a promotion strategy of national heritage, social development of producers, tourism promotion and impact on the country image. The products processed as DO and IG include lobsters from Juan Fernández, tuna from Easter Island, golden crabs, salt from Cahuil and Boyeruca, blankets from Doñihue, ceramics from Quinchamalí and Pomaire, sweets from the League, among others.

Founder of HACER CHILE, a corporation aimed at promoting the Chilean national heritage, valuing intellectual property and promoting civic education for children and young people. HACER CHILE counts with the advice of Abraham Magendzo, National Prize for Education, the sponsorship of the US Embassy and the financing of the Center for Civic Education.

He has formed various directories. He currently is part of the Palacio de La Moneda Cultural Center´s Board of Directors, formerly holding the same position at Teatro del Lago. He was a member of the advisory council of Arts and Letters and Reports of the newspaper “El Mercurio” and a columnist for the newspaper La Segunda. In addition, he is an ambassador of the “Hay Mujeres” movement, which aims to highlight the role of women in all areas of our country.

With regards to other areas of the market, Mr. Sanchez is a founding partner of StatKnows.com. StatKnows.com is a company dedicated to artificial intelligence that conducts perception and forecasting studies using algorithms developed by the organization itself. They have carried out studies on sustainability in 35 countries, the results of which were presented at COP 25 in Madrid, they have also undertaken studies with ECLAC on environmental sustainability, and they recently carried out a study on mental health in Chile.

Former board member of Santiago College and Colegio Kopernikus.

He is a scholar at the postgraduate programs of the Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI) having taught for ten years in the MBL and Master of Innovation.
